Short-term medical insurance provide you with major medical coverage for a limited period of time and typically lack preventative coverage , physicals, immunizations, dental or vision care. A short-term medical plan can cover several days, weeks or up to 6 months and in some cases 12 months. These plans are designed to fill gaps in medical coverage that may occur for a variety of reasons.
When to use a short term medical plan

- Between jobs
- Laid off
- Waiting for coverage from another health plan to start
Some points to be aware of. You cannot use a short term medical plan beyond the plans maximum duration. You cannot be subscribed to a short term medical plan and enroll in a permanent medical insurance or HIPAA medical plans at the same time.
